Thailand's traditional chess variant on an 8×8 board, 16 pieces per side — Khun (King), Met (Queen), Khon (Bishop), Ma (Knight), Ruea (Rook), Bia (Pawn). Pawns start on rank 3, the Met moves only one diagonal square, and the Khon moves diagonally or one square forward. Includes a unique "counting rule" to end drawn-out endgames.

English/American Checkers. 8×8 board with 12 pieces per side in 3 rows on dark squares. Rules are similar to Thai Checkers, but the King moves only one square diagonally in all 4 directions (not flying). Famously "solved" by computers in 2007 — perfect play always ends in a draw.
